SturdyRide is a small, independent site about electric bikes built for heavier riders, bigger frames and real loads: fat-tire bikes, cargo bikes, and e-bikes with high payload ratings.
The site exists because shopping for an e-bike when you are a big or tall rider, or when you need to haul kids, groceries or tools, is harder than it should be. Weight limits are buried in spec sheets, defined differently by each brand, and often missing entirely. Marketing pages talk about top speed and range; they rarely tell you whether the frame, wheels and brakes were designed for the weight you will actually put on them.
What we do
- We read manufacturer spec sheets, manuals and support pages, and compare what brands actually publish (payload, rider limits, rack ratings, safety certifications).
- We read safety standards and regulations, such as UL 2849 and state e-bike class laws, and explain them in plain language.
- We collect and summarise long-term owner experience from public forums and reviews, and we say clearly when something is reported rather than verified.
- We link to our sources so you can check them yourself.
What we don’t do
We are not a testing lab. Right now our guides are research-based: we have not ridden every bike we write about, and we will never claim hands-on testing we haven’t done. If we do ride or own a bike in the future, we will say so explicitly in that article, with photos and details.
We don’t accept payment for positive coverage. Some links may be affiliate links (see our Affiliate Disclosure); that never decides which bikes we recommend or what we say about them.
